If you are from out of town and if you are visiting Plano in September, schedule your visit so that it coincides with the Plano Balloon Festival. The festival is held over the course of three days.

Nearly 45 hot air balloons of various designs can be seen here during the festival. Other attractions include sky divers, live music, fireworks, great food and more.
A sanctuary away from the urban jungle
A review on Yelp calls the area around Arbour Hills Nature Reserve, the only hilly region in North Texas. Arbour Hills Nature Reserve is great for walks and to breathe in some fresh air. If you want some respite from the hustle bustle and noise of the city, Arbour Hills Nature Reserve is the place to visit.
Except for the occasional walker, the only company you and your loved one will have here are some birds and the trees. If you are lucky, you might see some rabbits or a coyote even.

Historic Downtown Plano has managed to retain its old charm despite the renaissance the rest of Plano has undergone. In the evenings, the streets are full of people, so if you are coming down in that time and are driving your car; ensure that you arrive early. You can have dinner in one of the wonderful restaurants in the area. You can also come down during the day, if that suits you better.
While you are here, make a quick halt at the Interurban Railway Museum. Historic Downtown Plano is a good place to build memories with your date or loved one.
